Sox Win!

How about them Red Sox, huh?

I got a whole post coming up about Boston sportsfandom, one of those topics that easily qualifies for the "Far Too Much Written About By People You Want To Smack" award. I'll see if I can't bring more to the table than your average radio sports call-in show meathead.

But for us long-time observers of the perennial trainwreck that was this baseball team for the ponderous bulk of our existence, this is the good life. Enjoy!

This is much different than in 2004, but is just as satisfying. What a time for a team to peak, and you had to love Kielty getting up there and first pitch homering.
Two other things: first it was a bush league play for Boras to tell people at the fourth game of the world series that his client A-Rod was opting out of his contract. he cold have waited a day and not intruded on the game.
But it's all good and I love that Lowell is the MVP. WE have gotta resign him.
Okay, three things, listening to Jerry Remy on NESN after the game makes me realize how much I missed him in the post season. He and Orsello are great and have a lot of fun.
Go Sox!!!

Dan...maybe Boras was trying to throw a hint out to the Boston management, that A-Rod would be available? Who cares! I think A-Rod is chasing the glory train. A year late and a team short!

Way to go SOX! Remy and Orsello and the little Green Guy, WALLY, are part of the team. They make it all come together.

A-Rod is perfectly emblematic of why I have difficulties cheering for pro sports.

That said, I haven't enjoyed a world series like this since the Tigers won in '84. The Sox are truly the best team in the league. No if ands or buts.

I just have to wonder how Boros and A-Rod felt after Mike Lowell was named MVP---or John Henry for that matter-- probably muttering--- boy is this going to cost us--I think A-Rid would be a terribel acquisition--there are enough egos in the locker room-- most of which have been sublimated since 2004---there's no room on that team ( as there is no "I" in team") for an A-Rod---let him go to the Dodgers with Torreputting A-Rod on the Sox would be as disruptive as putting Buddington on the North Adams City Council---they would both drive their "teammates" crazy as well as the manager (Francona/Barrett)--at least A-Rod would probably be productive in some on-field catagories-- Buddington??-- no hits- no runs-- and lots of errors---chbpod

Chbpod.....A different outlook, or just having an opinion that is different than those yanking the strings is not disruptive. What is disruptive are those people that refuse to listen just because. Diversity on the Conical is a healthy thing and lends itself to progress. If everyone agrees on everything the mayor puts before the conical all the time, then why even have a council to begin with....it becomes a wasted endeavor!

Sticking with Torre and going to the Dodgers is the first thing I have ever liked that Mattingly has done.
